Socks......

whilst we've all been in lockdown many weeks,my socks have been in lockdown donkeys years, only venturing out on a rare occasion and then usually on their own, hardly ever as a couple. They've been adhering to "Social-Distancing" for as long as I can remember and are so good at it they often keep their distance for good........

Pain in the neck.....

In the mid/late seventies I was working on a Building project at Slough Slaughter House (Abattoir). The weather was hot and sunny all the while I was on site and one day I volunteered to carry a Jack-Hammer back to the tool-store purely because just before the store there was an office with a pretty young girl at a typewriter by the window who always looked out and smiled. I picked up the very heavy Jack Hammer and with it on my shoulder walked across the grass in front of the office window and instead of going IN the Tool-Store as I should,I decided to 'flick' it forwards off my shoulder onto the grass,to show the girl how 'strong' I was!. Unfortunately, for me,I completely forgot about the handle which hit the back of my neck and pinned me to to ground in an instant. It must have looked like I'd just been taken out by a Harpoon!A bit dazed,I picked the Jack-Hammer up off the grass with a struggle and dragged it into the Tool-Store trying not to catch the girl's

a journalists mantra....

Where there is harmony, may we bring discord Where there is truth, may we bring error Where there is faith, may we bring doubt And where there is hope, may we bring despair

Rained off......

Ah...the rains have come as promised me-weeds have all been watered King-Edward's drowning in a pot and me Icebergs have been slaughtered..... The Robin's out collecting worms he shot by like a rocket I had to duck quite sharpish 'cause-he was aiming for me socket.... Saw her-next door out beckoning-birds throwing bread and nuts and bits I noticed sparrows and a blackbird and a couple of little tits...... So...it looks like it's a telly-day praps a film that's fun and groovy something not depressing though like.... "COVID 19.....THE MOVIE"........

The Lockdown blues.....

Well, the Holidays-have-all been well-scuppered we're stuck on 'staycation' a spell the cruise 'round the med has been cancelled and the weekend in Wuhan as well..... A fortnight in Florence is buggered America-too will be missed and-to contemplate Spain at the moment you'd-have to be carefree or p****d...... Anyway, flying's not possible at present so there's nowhere abroad we can go and driving much further than Tesco risks-a-possible stint on death-row..... So I'm stuck in the House like all others week six,and I've let meself go I look like a Hippy from Woodstock I've,let-me-hair and me whiskers just grow..... I've been practising keeping me distance and-when the-governor's tucked-up in our bed I put some more air in me Lilo and-kip-down for the night in the Shed..... But,if the strain of the lockdown gets tiring I'll,resign-my-'position' as Chef and to alleviate flack in the future I'll prete

Whilst in in a Pop Group at School we were covering popular stuff of the day including,1967ish, the Rolling Stones' Let's spend the night together. One day in an empty School-Hall we sat down while our base-player who was a very adept pianist too, banged out Let's spend the night together on the School's Grand Piano and after a minute or so watched as the Headmistress crept up behind him and knocked him off the piano-stool with a neatly placed right hook/slap.....

Bad Boy......

We went to see the Wife's best mate a couple of months ago she-could've of just gone on her own but,I HAD to go in tow!...... Anyway...... we were sat-down on her sofa while her Benji scratched his balls and he carried on despite us and ignoring "STOP IT!" calls...... "How old's he now?" I asked her "He's fourteen, aren't you boy?" as-she-threw him a chocolate biscuit while he broke another toy........ Then Benji suddenly leapt-up and was pissing on her rug then-shoved his head up the misses' skirt and gave her legs a "hug"..... She tried to push him off her but he licked her on her lips and by the time the bugger finished he'd nibbled both her "nips"..... I couldn't believe his behaviour I sat there quite agog "YOU NEED TO GET HIM SORTED!!" "HE'S WORSE-THAN A BLOODY DOG!!".......
"#NecessityistheMotherofInvention" I read an interview years ago with an ex inmate of Colditz Castle in WW2 who was asked about some of the, often ingenious, ideas he and others came up with whilst POWs to aid their escapes. In reply he mentioned "necessity is the mother of invention" (when the need for something becomes essential, you are forced to find ways of getting or achieving ) Not everyone of course will think up new ideas or invent things during this Lockdown period, hence why, some prisoners escaped Colditz and others sat it out. But for some with imagination or the need so to do,this time could prove more beneficial than at first assumed.....

When a Door closes...... So we're now in isolation and forbidden to go near all those places we once went to or those loved-ones we hold dear..... Our Homes are now our sanctuary from the daily-dose of gloom ignoring,if we so desire those people-peddling-doom..... We can sit-out in the garden hear the Birdsong, feel the Sun or venture outdoors briefly for a cycle, stroll or run..... So now's the time to read that book write a letter,'phone a friend reflect and count your blessings p'raps make do and mend..... Perhaps there's little money well, that's certainly a hitch but watch your healthy happy kids and say that you're not Rich..... This time may not be wasted 'though for some it's just a chore but if you use imagination it might open up a Door.....

When I was at junior School, crossing the road, where we lived at least, was fairly simple and fairly safe as you could here a Car or Bus or Lorry coming along the road long before it ever got to you. That's how it has become now to some extent with the road where we are suddenly going from having thousands of vehicles pass by daily to falling eerily quiet such that, even though Cars are more silent than they used to be,you can now hear them approaching way before you see them. In this new found silence we can hear Bird-Song that used to be drowned out by the traffic noise, hear the Frogs in the Pond croak and splash, hear children playing in a garden several Houses away, hear a Lawn-Mower somewhere and Alright Now by Free playing on someone's Radio who knows where. Our local Town is empty of people, almost all shops and businesses are shut and every day seems like a Sunday. Most of us now have more time on our hands than ever before and most people aren't making any money at t
