Bike Doctor......

When I ran my Cycle Shop in town,one of my customers was a local Doctor who had a very old,worn and tatty racing bike which he expected me to perform "miracles" on without him spending too much money!
He was quite a regular particularly when he was off to France again,taking the bike with him.On one such occasion he brought it in for a "check up" and told me to do what I could.....but there wasn't much I COULD do as he was,as ever,reluctant to part with the cash....
When he came back at lunch-time to collect,he was with a Doctor colleague and asked me for the verdict......I told him it was beyond help,"but take this (I gave him a tin of WD40) and spray it on three times a day and if it's no better in a week,come back and see me!".........

When I was at junior School,crossing the road,where we lived at least,was fairly simple and fairly safe as you could here a Car or Bus or Lorry coming along the road long before it ever got to you. Coronavirus...... Apparently some 'experts' initially predicted a million deaths in the UK but that figure has now been lowered with an expert Professor  updating that to some 20,000 and more recently to 5,700.Also he says that two thirds of those who die in the next few months,supposedly of Coronavirus,would have died anyway of something else. Further,it appears that if someone dies under the care of Medical professionals and if said person has Coronavirus at time of Death,then that is being listed as  the cause of death when it may or may not be the case. So time will tell eventually whether the restrictions imposed on people's lives and the economic impact that will go on far longer have been absolutely necessary or whether we've all been living through a real life episode of Spooks......
