Our Shed......

Our Shed started life in around 1984 when me and my Dad bought it new for a job we were doing in Marlow in the grounds of a big house adjacent to the Church. We were to rebuild a Victorian summer-house which had burnt down at some point and the original brick and concrete base sat right by the side of the Thames with the Complete Angler opposite across the river and the suspension bridge close by.
The shed measuring 6'x 4' x 6'6" high, was to be our site -office for the duration of the job and some weeks later when the summer-house was completed the shed was dismantled and eventually erected in our back garden at home in Maidenhead.
During the following few years it was used for tools and storage but in 1991 the shed was repurposed. That year "The Darling Buds of May" was shown on ITV and we,like millions of others, watched each week the Larkins adventures in and around their farm in Kent. The kids, after watching, decided we should sell up and buy a Farm,so I compromised and bought some chickens and thus our shed had a second life. With a sliding door-way fitted and straw laid on the floor and chicken wire around a run area we were ready for the four Hens which I collected from a local farm.
The hens eventually gave us eggs  and pottered around the garden and the kids would help with feeding cleaning out and of course, collecting the eggs.
Over the following few years the hens eventually went to that chicken farm in the sky and our shed once again became a store for all that junk we decide to keep "just in case".....and that's how it stayed until about three years ago when it was concluded that none of the stuff we'd kept in the shed all those years we actually needed and it could be disposed of and several "dump runs" later it was clear and ready for repair which include a new floor, new lower boarding on the outside and painting inside and out.
The result of all this work was that our shed was transformed for the third time into a Beach-Hut,albeit some seventy odd miles form the sea and it's now used regularly as a quiet place for reading, contemplating or napping or just having a tea break and watching the birds or enjoying the quiet.
Our shed's still going strong after some 35 + years and our Beach-Hut is filled with momentos of days out at the sea-side......
