A Christmas "Carol"......

Away in the  danger
With a mask on my head
I popped into Budgens
For a loaf of white bread.....

Some tosser coughed near me
Then blocked up the aisle
So I fingered his croissants
Cause he stood there a while..... 

The duffers were dawdling
So I picked up some sweets
Then sneezed very loudly
As I passed by the meats.....

My mask was now soggy
As I got to the bread
But the section was heaving
So-got doughnuts instead.....

I quickly skedaddled
To head out and pay
With a crowd of old duffers
Stood blocking the way.....

At last at the till now
For much time I'd lingered
And I left to the sound of 
"MY CROISSANTS BEEN FINGERED!!"......

When I was at junior School,crossing the road,where we lived at least,was fairly simple and fairly safe as you could here a Car or Bus or Lorry coming along the road long before it ever got to you. That's how it has become now to some extent with the road where we are suddenly going from having thousands of vehicles pass by daily to falling eerily quiet such that,even though Cars are more silent than they used to be,you can now hear them approaching way before you see them.
